This gorgeous reproduction is made from real palmetto fronds and sea oats!* During the Civil War, a palmetto cockade was worn as a secession badge by men, women and children. The palmetto is the state symbol of South Carolina, the first state to secede.
This is fragile!
I have sealed the palm and sea oats and secured them firmly to the red felt but they can still easily crack and splinter. Wear this carefully!
Dimensions: Approximately 4" X 2". Since the badges are made from real natural products, they will vary slightly. This picture is representative, not exact.
*These sea oats were legally harvested :)

People in the past wore a cockade to tell a story about themselves. I love researching what those stories were and why people wanted to tell them. People today have stories to tell too, so that's what motivates me to keep making cockades! What's your story and how can I help you tell it better?
